How much does the Tooth Fairy leave at your house on a typical visit?

According to the Original Tooth Fairy Poll, a tongue-in-cheek effort from American insurer Delta Dental, the average child in the United States now receives just under $2.50 per tooth lost.  This is the highest average trade-in value since 2010.  Further, the trend line appears to correlate strongly with that of the US economy as represented by the S&P

500 Index.  Although we don’t have similar data expressly from Canada, it seems reasonable to expect that pay-outs are similar here.

It would seem that the Tooth Fairy is a pretty good economist!

Delta Dental’s data suggest that roughly 90% of homes enjoy a visit from the Tooth Fairy when baby teeth are lost.
